Stigma and discrimination are leading factors that could make any human being have a hard time talking about their mental health. The fear of having people identify you by your mental health problem will preoccupy your mind and you would rather not talk about the issue. That is certainly a major problem men see in talking about their mental health issues.

Men want to protect their family and friends

Men often think of themselves as strong and in control of their emotions. While mental health issues can develop in any man no matter his age or background, close friends and relatives of these men suffer most from this mental difficulty. Family members actually suffer more than any other category of people.

This is another possible reason why men will not want to talk about their mental health problems. They understand that as the head of their family, they have to present themselves as strong and capable of being in command.

While it is often looked at negatively, mental health problems do not need to be attract stigma and discrimination. In fact, scientists have proven that every human being undergoes some sort of mental health problem at one point in their life or another. All we really need to do is seek help whenever we are down and think that we could be suffering from a mental health problem.
