Lamar Odom’s ex-wife, Khloe Kardashian, discussed her anxiety over the former basketball star’s current life situation this past weekend

Sunday’s episode of Keeping up with the Kardashians started off with Kardashian discussing her anxiety over Odom with her best friend Malika Haqq. She expressed her thoughts and feelings when she revealed that Odom is planning to go to a basketball training facility in Santa Barbara.

Kardashian doesn’t think Odom is true to his word when he says he wants to go to the basketball camp. She thinks he will not follow through with it since he hasn’t shown any effort to work out or train.

Her worries began when a friend of Odom called her and broke the news that her ex-husband has been “hanging out with bad guys again.”

In response, Kardashian said, “This is Lamar … Nothing is going to wake him up, that’s just the way it is.”

She expressed to her sisters Kim and Kourtney that she is upset that Odom, 36, is fighting demons and that there is nothing she can do to help him.

“I want the best for Lamar, but with everything going on lately, there’s not a lot of trust there,” she said. “I just want to keep him around positive people. Ever since coming back from Cuba. I’ve been so worried about Lamar. Everyone wants to see Lamar do well and succeed at life. Everyone was rooting for Lamar, except him.”

After going back and forth about it, both her sisters feel there is only so much Khloe can do and that she has tried her best to help and protect Odom.

Kim told Khloe, “Maybe you shouldn’t put so much energy into it. You can’t baby him or be his mom.” She then volunteered to talk to Odom herself, saying, “I’ll go over there and talk to him or have Kanye talk to him.”

Kourtney also shared her thoughts, saying, “It feels so good to let it go,” then added “but at the same time, you don’t want this person to die.”

“When it comes to Lamar, Khloe has given everything and tried everything. There’s only so much that she can do,” Kourtney said in her interview.

Is It a Mental Disorder?

Lamar Odom’s struggle with sobriety could be caused by a mental health issue such as depression, anxiety, or bipolar disorder. One of the primary reasons that mental disorders and substance abuse so often go hand-in-hand is that drugs and alcohol can provide an escape from the pressures of mental health problems. Self-medicating is surprisingly common: you’re not alone. But unlike real, effective, long-term solutions, such as medication and detoxification in a treatment center, drugs and alcohol won’t amount to effective treatment.
